best way to visit Alishan from Taipei

Hi Taiwan Expert(s),

I%26#39;ve been trying to search fom the old thread but none seems to fit into my schedule.. Please help and advise !!!

Itinerary (2D1N)

1. arrive TPE on 04 Feb late afternoon

2. depart fm TPE to Alishan next am via HSR to Chiayi

3. arrive at Chiayi around noon

4. catch sunrise the next am, return to TPE (05 Feb pm)

Questions:

1. Do you advise we stay a night in Chiayi on arrival day, catch the Sunset (where to view?) and make way to watch Sunrise at Jushan next am?? Do you think we have the time??

2. Is there any place we can stay a night in ALishan or nearby?

3. What else to do after watching Sunrise before heading back to TPE city?

Please advise if I have missed out anything.. :p

best way to visit Alishan from Taipei

(1) The typical 2 day trip to Alishan from Taipei goes something like this:

Day 1 - Taipei to Chia-Yi by HSR. Connecting shuttle to Chia-Yi TRA station, bus or forest train up to Alishan recreational area, watch sunset and spend the night in Alishan.

Day 2 - morning train to Zhu-shan for sunrise viewing, explore forest area in the morning, take aftrenoon bus or train back to Chia-Yi, with a stopover at Fen-Chi-Hu if you desire.

(2) There are plenty of hotels and minsu in Alishan. You can also find lodging options in Fen-Chi-Hu and villages along the road.

(3) Explore the forest. It is not called Alishan forest recreation area for nothing.
