HSR - prebook online or buy at station?

i%26#39;ll be in taipei and taichung 9/1-11/1 friday to sunday. will use TPE.

wanna know if HSR between these places will be easily full on those days, so that i need to buy tickets online beforehand or i can just turn up at station to buy free seating tickets?

i%26#39;m inclined towards buy at station because the free seating tickets are not restrictive about which train to take and allow more flexible itinerary.

Just buy from the station, I really don%26#39;t think you will have any problems getting a ticket on the spot as your travel dates are not that busy. Booking in advance only ties up your schedule because you are locked into that one train.

Just so you know, the new pricing structure has been in effect since November. It is sometimes cheaper to get a reserved seat than a free seating ticket. Make sure you check out the new train schedule for the correct price.
