Help re Chiayi and Budai

Please can someone help with these queries?

1. Is Chiayi High Speed Rail Station and Chiayi Rail Station nearby each other?

2. From Chiayi HSR, Is there a bus to Budai Harbour to take the ferry to Penghu?

3. Are there any hotels near Budai Harbour? Any recommendations?

1 - They are about 40 minutes apart by shuttle bus.

2 - There is no connecting bus service from Chia-Yi HSR to Bu-Dai harbor. The only connecting bus leaves from Chia-Yi TRA station. Do be warned that the bus doesn%26#39;t go all the way to the ferry terminal, the closest stop is a good 15 to 20 minutes away by foot. Bus fare is about 110 dollars, and the trip takes about 1.2 hours. If you have more than 3 people it is probably more convenient to take a cab.

3 - The closest hotel is at least 15 minutes away by car. In any event I wouldn%26#39;t want to stay near the harbor, it is practically deserted at night.

Sorry, scratch my response to number 2, apparently the connecting shuttle service from Chia-Yi TRA station makes a stop at the HSR station on its way to Bu-Dai harbor! Boy is my face red!

Once you exit the station, take connecting bus route number 3. It will take you directly to Bu-Dai harbor (again you have to hike a long distance to the ferry terminal).

Thank you, this is useful. This is my first time to Chiayi so totally unfamiliar, but will definitely not stay at Budai Harbour then. Do you know of any hotel near the HSR? Or any recommendations at all? Thanks much.

Unfortunately there are very few hotels close to the HSR station. Most lodging options are located in the downtown area close to the TRA station, which is to be expected since that is where you will find most of the shopping, restaurants and tourist attractions.

I can think of only 1 hotel that is close to the HSR station. 鍚戞棩钁垫苯杌婃梾椁? http://benibear.jthotel.com.tw. It is less than 2 km from the HSR station, and the cab cost should be minimal. The rooms are quite nice, and the price is affordable. The only negative is that it is a ';motel';, so the hotel is geared towards local couples if you catch my drift.

Thanks again, I will research more on the hotels near TRA. Makes sense to stay around there if that%26#39;s where the action is.
