Taroko Budget Accommodation / Eating

I went to Taroko gorge years ago and stayed at the Catholic Hostel there. It wasn%26#39;t great, but was cheap.

Is there anything else there now? Has anyone stayed at the hostel recently? Whatabout eating - before there was just an expensive buffet at the Formosa hotel, or cheap and nasty stalls near the bus terminus? Any other options?
