Some comments I can give based on experience of my 07 and 08 trips:
Day 5: quite a lot of shopping places you are trying to cover. Considering the fact that shops open late morning, it can be packed. Again, it depends on the type of shopper you are. Anyway, since you are doing it F%26amp;E, you can adjust along the way.
An alternate place for dinner is HuXu Zhang 胡须张Luroufan on your way from Houshanpi to Wufenpu. We like it.
Day 7: morning you can consider going to Wulai (take bus from XinDian MRT station). Afternoon, visit Martyr%26#39;s Shrine and National Palace Museum. The Shrine has impressive (20+min) change of guards on the hour. The museum is worth a visit, Free admission during extended evening hours on Sat, 5 to 8:30 PM.
Day 8: judging from your arrival and departure time. You should be taking Jetstar, same as I did 2 wks ago. : )
My advice is to catch flight, take GuoGuang bus instead of Freego. Based on comments I read on this forum, GG is more reliable and doesn%26#39;t make many stops, you won%26#39;t want to risk missing your flight back home.
Day 4 (Wed):
CKS Memorial Hall closes at 1700 hrs and Longshan Temple closes around 2200 hrs.
Day 6 (Fri):
Hell Valley (Beitou Geothermal Park) opening hours: 0900 to 1700 hrs Tue ~ Sun. Closed on Mondays and public holidays. No admission charge. It is not possible to soak in Hell Valley as water temperature is around 90 ~ 100 degree C. In the past, accidents occurred when people slipped and got severe burns. Since 1994, wooden fences were erected to make it safer.
You can go to the nearby outdoor public hot spring pool (千禧汤 ) at No 6 Chungshan Rd, Xin Beitou (near to hot spring museum)
Tel: (02) 28937014
Walk 15 mins along Chungshan Rd from Xin Beitou MRT station. Opening hours: 0530 to 0745hrs, 0830 to 1115hrs, 1200 to 1445hrs, 1530 to 1815hrs, 1900 to 2145hrs. Admission Charge: NT$40 (adult) NT$20 (child) Common outdoor pools for both genders.
Agree with TaiwanDIY abt the outdoor public hotspring next to the museum. I was there on 16 Nov, noticed that the time slots of their opening are different from what I found on the net. eg. the after-lunch slot starts at 1:30pm.
Not an issue, go and check out the timing before you tour the museum. It is supposed to admit 50 pax per session.
THANKS! TaiwanDIY %26amp; Mrslye,
Regarding to Hot Springs.. Just quite blurr, Hell Valley is not a place for us to do Hot Spring ?? Since you mentioned that the water was very HOT ?! Then is it just a museum ?? And only this 千禧汤 Hot Spring is recommended to us (me and bf)? Do you have other suggestions on Hot Springs where we can do something indoor ? Or only the outdoor 千禧汤 is recommended in XinBeitou ? Thanks again !! :)
Hello Mrslye,
As for my Day7, i will be visiting from Taipei %26gt; Yeliu %26gt; Jingguashih %26gt; Jiufen %26gt; Keelung MiaoKou NM %26gt; and back Taipei. Is it alright ? Good ? :) Also, Wulai is at Xindian that side, is it really that worth it to visit ?? Also, i have heard that Wulai is also a good place for hot spring too right.. is it possible / Ok for us to do hot springs for 2 diff days?
Should i give a Change of my Day7 to Day4 if i go Wulai ?? :)
Thanks ! Thanks !
Yes, the water in Hell Valley is very HOT. You can’t do your hot spring bath there. Go to the nearby outdoor public hot spring pool (千禧汤 ) at No 6 Chungshan Rd, Xin Beitou (near to hot spring museum). There are many hot spring resorts / hotels in Beitou offering a soak in a private room.
Some Beitou hot spring resorts popular with forumers.
Asia Pacific Resort, Beitou http://www.apresort.com.tw
Spa World Spring Resort, Beitou http://www.spaspringresort.com.tw
Spring City Resort, Beitou http://www.springresort.com.tw
Sweet Me Hot Spring Resort, Beitou http://www.sweetme.com.tw
Taipei’s three hot spring spots are Beitou, Yang Ming Shan and Wulai: gio.gov.tw/taiwan-website/gogo/goen_31.htm
Hello TaiwanDIY,
Had view and read out the websites you given, including some of the forums too.. Is it OK that we walk around and ask about which of the Hot Springs resorts / hotel.. like what we like to have.. (eg. hows the hot spring liked ? indoor / outdoor ? Private one or open.. ?) And also noted that in Dec will be %26#39;winter%26#39; quite cold. Do you think we still got outdoor, those sulphur hot springs ? Thanka again..
On day 7: i feel need not change. As the route you have planned for has more to offer.
I didn%26#39;t try the hotspring in Wulai, so can%26#39;t comment.
Hi Mrslye,
Thanks again... By the way, i read thru the forum on Neijiang Hotel, and i noticed that you stayed in Neijiang too.. Me too (in this Dec). I would like to ask you on the Free Hot spring Vouchers - how do you get it ? Need the tickets %26amp; Hotel confirmation no. and whatelse ? Thanks ! And is it need to change at the tourism board ?? The tourism board is locaed at Singapore or Taiwan ?? Blurr...
Thanks again !!
Vodka.
