Cruise stop in Keelung..........what to do............

Hi everyone,

Our cruise ship will be docking in Keelung for just 12 hours leaving around midnight in June 2009.

What can we do while we are there? Is there any nightmarkets ( she loves shopping !! ). Are there `must see` places to go?

I%26#39;m not sure if you would have time to do all this (it depends on how much time you spend in each place), but here%26#39;s a suggested plan using public transport, covering Ximending, Taipei 101 and Keelung Miaokou Night Market:

%26gt; Walk from Keelung Port to Keelung Railway Station (5~10 min.)

%26gt; Take a train (preferably the faster Tze Chiang or Chu Kuang) to Taipei Station (40~45 min.)

%26gt; *Walk from the TRA (rail) section to the MRT (subway) section (10 min.)

%26gt; *Take the Blue Line (Nangang Line), Yongning direction, to Ximending @ MRT Ximen Station, Exit 6 (1 stop away) and briefly check out the youth culture of Ximending, if you%26#39;re interested

%26gt; *Take the same MRT line in the opposite direction (Kunyang direction) to Taipei 101 @ MRT Taipei City Hall Station, Exit 3 (20~40 min., depending on walking pace)

%26gt; On the walk back to your ship, stop by Keelung Miaokou Night Market @ Keelung Port - Keelung Railway Station/Bus Terminal

Another option would be to negotiate a fare and hire a cab for the day---it should cost about NT3000~3500.
