Airfare question US to Taipei - Is it better to buy one-way?

Hello there,

I will be traveling to Taipei in April and will not be returning to the US until November. Do you know if it is better/cheaper to book a one-way ticket to Taipei and then book my flights back to the US from Taipei?

I have frequent flyer status with American Airlines so my preference is to fly AA or airlines in their OneWorld network. Any insight or tips would be greatly appreciated.

To get the lowest fare, purchase tickets at least 6 months before travel date is recommended. Round trip ticket is usually cheaper than one-way ticket. Not sure about your situation since you will be in Taiwan for an extended time.
