Hi.
I only have 2 days in Taipei which is obviously not enough but I want to make the most of it. I will be going in mid-March of this year. Staying at TS Hotel near Ximen station.
So far, I will try to see Grand Hotel, Shi Men Ting area, Chiang Kai Shek Memorial, bao %26#39;an Temple, Taipei 101. I am also interested in a night market, as well as a jade and plant market that I read about under a freeway.
I know this is a lot, however am young and ready to run around.
My questions are:
1. What is a good time to see Shin Lin Night Market to avoid the crowds? I%26#39;m in Taipei on the weekend.
2. Any other night markets that are recommended mostly for the food?
3. How should I group the attractions I want to see on the 2 days? Are they all near each other? Will it make a difference which ones I do on day 1 and then day 2?
4. Where are the jade and plant markets?
5. For the train system, do I buy a day pass? Single tickets for each ride? How does that work?
6. Any food recommendations near the hotel I will be staying at or near the attractions I%26#39;m going to? I just can%26#39;t eat pork. I%26#39;m very interested in fresh cut noodles, live prawns, scallion pancakes, and bubble tea.
Thanks!
Help.......only 2 days in Taipei!
Hi,
1. if you want to avoid the crowds in Shin Lin Night Market , you could go there in the afternoon.
But the night market without crowds is a kind of boring.
Maybe you could go there by 4:00 or 5:00 PM. I think there should be less crowd at that moment and you still can feel night market at mean time.
2. You could go vist raohe night market.
here is the link http://www.raohe.com.tw/
you could use English version.
3. Grand Hotel, bao %26#39;an Temple,Shin Lin night market could be within one day. the rest of places could be another day.
Hope this help

4. The Weekend Flower %26amp; Jade Market is held underneath the Jianguo Elevated Expy. on weekends only. Jianguo S. Rd. is on the eastern side of DaAn Park; to get there from Ximending, take Bus 20 from Baoqing Rd. (near the front of FE21 Dept. Store). Alight at DaAn Park or Xinyi/Jianguo Intersection; bus fare is NT15. If coming by MRT, the nearest station is MRT DaAn.
5. Since you%26#39;ll be here for only two days, you can buy a Single Ride token each time you ride the MRT.
6. Well-known eateries in Ximending include Ay Chung noodles (where everyone stands in front of the shop eating, as there%26#39;s no seating---from the KFC, walk toward Zhonghua Rd. and you%26#39;ll see it) and Taoyuan St. beef noodles @ 15 Taoyuan St. (just off Hengyang Rd.)
