Taiwan

Hi, I%26#39;m currently planning a trip to Taiwan. I%26#39;m flying into taoyuan and would like to go to taroko gorge, sun and moon lake, and alishan. Is it possible to get from one place to another using public transportation or would I have to reroute to a major city first? If so, how long would the journeys take and how frequent are the trips? Thanks in advance!

As far as I%26#39;m aware there is no public transport between Taroko and Sun Moon lake, and between Sun Moon Lake and Alishan. Therefore you will probably need to go via Taipei to Hualian (2-3 hours by train)to catch the bus to Taroko.

Then back via Taipei to TaiChung by train where you can catch a bus to Sun Moon Lake (should be around 2 hours).

From TaiChung to Chiayi (20 minutes by HSR) you can catch the mountain train up to Alishan (4 hours).

Thanks for the quick reply! Do you know how frequent/late these trains and buses run? as in, would it be possible for me to make taroko a day trip and catch a train back the taipei the same evening. and if i were to stay in taichung, can i make day trips to sun moon lake and alishan? thanks!
