Yangmingshan flower season

If I want to go to yangmingshan for the flower blossoms, when is the best time to go? Also want to catch the Dahu strawberry season too? Can I have both during the same trip if I go in March?

Hi, sure, why not? YMS flower season is from March to May, while the strawberry season is from December through April.

strawberry would be late Dec-Jan; cherry blossom sometimes as early as late Jan, Feb would be a good time.March also flower season, but don%26#39;t think there would be anymore cherry blossom in YMS then.

At Yangming Shan, the ';ying - hwa'; or ';sakura';, is pink and basically, there is almost no leaves on the tree, except the flowers, so, it is like a giant pink flower tree. I was there in early Feb and it was nice, inclusive of the cool weather.

ah! I%26#39;m going Taiwan next yr 26 Feb - 9 Mar. Which means I%26#39;ll most likely get to see the flower blossoms?!! ^^

Getting a little confused here because my cousin helped me to check with her Taiwanese friend and she said Cherry Blossom is more like in March - April. Was searching the web and also found an article dated 10 Mar 08 that reports about cherry blossoms on YMS.

Have actually booked some promotional Jetstar tickets now to go from 7 Mar to 16 Mar. Really hope I can see the cherry blossoms and pick the strawberries (which the websites seem to say from Dec to Apr... though not sure how accurate they are). The last time I went in end Dec, there were strawberries for picking and they were the sweetest I have ever tasted. But must pick them from the higher altitudes farm because the owner explained to us that for strawberries to be sweet, need large fluctuations in temperature between day and night which occur more at high altitudes. The ones from farms at sea level have a tinge of sourness to them.

the season for cherry blossom can be quite variable, there was one year when we went just right after Chinese new year n all bloosoms were gone,not very sure as to the %26#39;ave%26#39; dates, would do a search for u.

so ave should be around Feb, but u might still chance upon it if the season begins late.Anyhow, March-April would see cherry blossoms in other parts like Alishan etc, so no worry.

Ok, thanks a lot. Really hope that I can catch both the cherry blossom and strawberries in early March. Wish me luck.

Anyone has any updates on the sakura season in 2009 ? Any websites that actually tracks which exactly are the best spots at which particular period of time ? When i planned for my Japan trips, found quite a lot of websites on this, but so far no luck for Taiwan. Thanks.
