Anyone been to Fenqihu?

I%26#39;m planning to take the 10am forest train and alight at Fenqihu before taking the later train again up to Alishan. I will have therefore 3 hours at Fenqihu but will there be enough for me to do/see at Fenqihu to fill up the 3 hours?

By stopping at Fenqihu I am also delaying my arrival at Alishan by 3 over hours. If I don%26#39;t stop at Fenqihu I will arrive Alishan at 2pm giving me plenty of daylight to explore.

Anyone can share your experience at fenqihu?

I was at Fen-Chi-Hu a couple years ago and enjoyed it very much.

I spent about an hour exploring the train sheds, alleyways and souvenir shops, another hour having lunch and desert, and a couple hours trekking through the nearby bamboo forests before returning to catch the train down to Chia-Yi.

Thanks, pcheng. Looks like it is worth a stop there even if it delays my arrival at alishan by 3 hours.

IMO i think fenqihu has more area which you can explore than alisan itself.

don%26#39;t miss fenqihu, it is a must go place. just plan your trip in such a way that you you have at least 4hrs or daylight for you to tour the ';forest';

if you are going alisan on the cherry bloom period, maybe you want to have even more hours for viewing and taking photograph.

if you staying over for 1 night then you can stop at fenqihu on your way back to chiayi.

I have also thought about stopping at Fenqihu on the way down from Alishan but I%26#39;m not sure whether I can manage to book this since it is private transport and I also have no idea how much time they will let us stop at Fenqihu. Hence I%26#39;m thinking that by taking the first train up to Fenqihu, I know for sure I will have 3 hours there before continuing with the 2nd train to Alishan.

yes, from what i know, they have resumed operations and 2 trips from chiayi to alishan everyday.

I saw in their website too that they hv 2 trains from Chiayi to Alishan everyday. But I thought passengers are still required to alight half way for a 500m walk before continuing?

Cos I%26#39;m going end of this mth and still contemplating if I should juz take a cab from Chiayi station to Fenchihu to avoid the walking part. Cos my aim is to hv an experience on the forest train ride.

I took the 3-hour stopover at Fencihu before embarking on Alishan. I did not explore the forested area but it is more than enough time to comb through the old street. I%26#39;d say its worth a trip since its en route.

Arriving at Alishan 3 hours later is not a problem since i presume u will be staying over for a night? U will still be in time to see the sights of sunset :)
