Yilan Shangrila Farm - oct 2008

Just returned from my taiwan trip.

Before We went, we did faced some unhappy issues with the online booking of the shangrila farm stay. But it was settled.

The disappointed part was when I called up the farm on early oct, after the worst typhoon had hit them... the farm staff told me that only a small part of the farm is being affected by the typhoon.

So, we still proceeded with our plan... Checking it farm on 28 of oct 08.

We travelled all the way from taipei to Luodong (part of yilan), the journey took us 2 hrs (by the fastest train).

When we reached the farm, we checked it the room.

As we booked is the packagetype, that came with fuit farm visit. So we went to explore at the farm.

Who knows... it was totally nothing to see, and they are repairing the farm too....

We were so disppointed that we checked out the farm in less than 2 hours. Then we travelled back to taipei again and rebooked another hotel in taipei.

So, I advised thos people who are planning to travel to Yilan Shangrila Farm in the coming months. Dun go. Maybe they need another 2 to 3 months to build and repair the damaged parts. It is not a bit being affected. It is badly being affected.

Dun waste the money and time travelling there these few months. Really, take my words.

Yilan Shangrila Farm - oct 2008

Hi Leo,

Very sad to hear that you couldn%26#39;t enjoyed your farmstay at Shangrila. Hope you will have better luck in your next visit to Taiwan.

Yilan Shangrila Farm - oct 2008

so sorry about the spoiler, it is indeed true that many fruit n flower farms are badly damaged after the stampede from Typhoons recently.

I have just paid my deposit a few days ago, confirmed 1 nite stay on 13 Nov.

I called to check. This is what I was told:

- accomodation and roads are OK

- reconstruction is still in progress. the one that is outstanding are the big structures like 鍑変涵.

- though u can still visit the fruit farm, but they won%26#39;t be any fruits to pluck. (They claim that fruits plucking is not always guaranteed, as it depends on the seasons etc)

- night activities like 澶╃伅 etc is still available.

I will still proceed and try to make the best out of the situation.

Maybe you could have try asking for a discount since there is nothing much to do?

Besides Shangrila and Toucheng Farmstay, does anyone know of other similar farmstays in Yilan area?

Thanks for the tips everyone.

But does this only apply to the amenities at Shangrila Farmstay or probably these coming months is not good for a Yilan visit at all?

Anyone been to either Shangri la or Toucheng farm stay lately?

Any updates?
