Hi All,
I have browse through the forum trying to find a way to go to Taroko Hualien from TS Hotel. I am also looking for a guide there.
So may I ask the following,
1. Does the tour guide like Mr Looi and Mr Chen meet us at Taipei or in Hualien?
2. If in Taipei, where will that be?
3. How do I go from Taipei to Hualien by Train?
4. I understand that there are 2 types of train. One is the Tze Chang line and the other is the Tze Chang Taroko line. My guess is they depart and arrive from the train station?
5. How much does the tour guide charge for the trip and may I know the time needed to travel from Hualien to Taroko?
6.I will be going on a weekday, will the return train to Taipei be crowded?
7. I read somewhere that I can book the train tickets to Taipei online. May I know the website please?
Thanks in advance.
Hualien Taroko
Hi mousehunt, have you found anything related? I am oso looking at going hualien for a 1 day tour.
Hualien Taroko
Hi,
I have contacted Mr Lu for a day trip to Taroko. Cost is NT2200 for 2 person. I believe if a bigger car is needed, the price will be higher.
hi mousehunt, how do u get to hualien? take mr lu tpt? or by train?
Hi Serene,
Ok, the info I have also base on what I van find here.
Firstly, if you intend to engage a private cabbie, then you make arrangement and decide on the date.
Once you reach Taipei, go and buy your train tickets at the Taipei Main Station. It is advisable to buy the 620am train. I do not know does other stations like XMD sell it. When the purchase the ticket to Hualien, buy the return ticket too. You can purchase the 7pm+ train as it is a Taroko class and the travel time will be shorter. The train is newer and it cost the same.
Once you buy the tickets, call the cabbie in Hualien to confirm again. On that day itself, proceed to Hualien and meet up with the cabbie.
That%26#39;s it.
My friend told me that the 3 must see in Taiwan are the following,
1. Taroko
2. Alishan
3. Sun Moon Lake
It will be a tough journey with a baby. So you had better think carefully. But as other TA users have mentioned, if you engage Mr Lu, he is pretty patient and helpful.
I spoke to him and he sounds friendly. He even suspect whether am I a Singaporean by the way I speak Chinese!!!
Also, do not go on a weekend unless you want to join the crowd.
Also Serene,
I have decided to give up TS Hotel due to cost. I will now stay at Keyman Hotel with the recommendation of another TA user.
The reason why I choose Keyman is because it is near to the bus terminal that have buses go to the Airport directly. Freego will need to change bus. The hotel is also just opposite the Taipei Main Station so going to Hualien will be easier.
If you take the 7pm+ train from Hualien, you will reach Taipei around 9pm, just to let you know.
hey guys, please refer to this website for online booking of train tickets and as well as payment by foreign credit card like VISA.

hope it helps you in booking your hualian tickets. :) that%26#39;s how i got my train tickets to hualian as well. pretty easy.
@mousehunt
just to let you know that since you%26#39;ve choosen Keymans Hotel as your preferred. Do note that they don%26#39;t change the bedsheet everyday for you which I%26#39;ve experienced it. I have choosen Keymans Hotel as it%26#39;s near to TMS cos of the Hualien trip also but regretted after staying there. Staff are unfriendly and their service sucks. Ximenting is just a station to TMS actually. Would recommended East Dragon Hotel.
Oh great.... now I am in a fix again. So may I know who else has stayed in Keyman and can give their experience?
I am leaving on the 23rd Feb and doubt I can get a room anywhere!!
hi mousehunt, you are right. Kind of worrying travelling with 2 children and old folk. tink will give it a miss.. haiz... How much is keyman hotel per night? Maybe you can try wonstar hotel? it around NT 2380 per night
mousehunt:
As you know, I%26#39;ll be staying at Keyman%26#39;s Hotel too for my trip in March. I searched online for reviews of the hotel before booking, and many of them said that the service is quite good actually. I wouldn%26#39;t know about the changing of bedsheets per se, but while the hotel is not new, people have commented that the rooms are clean.
In any case, if you are not totally comfortable, I would suggest that you look for another hotel, so that you can enjoy your trip to the max. :) Have you tried CityInn? It%26#39;s a much newer hotel than Keyman%26#39;s, cheaper, and reviews have been positive as far as I know. It was my first-choice hotel but unfortunately they did not have rooms for some of the nights I will be there.
