I am very much interested in this topic as well, and am pretty much surprised that there is not a single reply after 6 weeks.

You can try this...

Sorry friend, your post got missed. Sometimes we get too many on one day and your post gets pushed back.

Many places especially the Taipei MRT Stations, 7/11 have free wireless. Many of the places in Warner Village have free hot spots-all near the 101 and Trade Center

Hi Nutty,

How to get hooked on to these free network?

Are we suppose to sign up (ie a pw and user name) or can jus select and connect on the spot?

What is likely the name for the connection which we can look out for?

Cos I cant seem to get hooked onto any free wireless network when I was there..

Cheers

okay, as the response is pretty slow here, I will add what i found out so far. there is a city-wide network called WIFLY, and you can buy prepaid cards for one month almost everywhere. it costs 400 or 500 TW$. unfortunately, everything is in Chinese, so if you are one of those 0,5% Non-Singaporean/Non-Chinese-Speaker posting in the TAIWAN-board here, you may have a hard time. But I will be there (TPE) soon and post my experiences (=^_^=)
