Hi, I will be travelling to Taipei and am currently looking for a hotel. I have shortlisted Neijiang Hotel. There were quite good reviews about this hotel.
Recently a forumer posted a ';warning'; about some hotels being used as ';love'; hotels and about some hotels providing ';adult contents'; on their TV channels, I am worried and wonder if Neijiang Hotel does provide these...
Can anyone who has stayed in Neijiang please advise? (I am travelling with my two boys age 16 and 9)
Thank-you in advance.
Neijiang Hotel
Hi CH0606
We%26#39;ve just returned from Taiwan a week ago and stayed in Neijiang Hotel for 4 nights. We were very satisfied with the location and the cleaniless of the hotel. The only thing you might have to worry about is hiding the condom from the kids once you check in to your room, because my youngest boy found it on the bedside table and asked what it was. His brothers all had a good laugh at his expense and my husband and I tried to explain the best we can :(
We also supervised the boys whilst watching tv and found that the tv control was set on certain channels only. So they did not accidentally chance upon the adult channel.
I%26#39;m also happy to report that there is a coin-operated laundry mart just across the road from Neijiang which proved to be very convenient when travelling with a large family.
The breakfast was not too appetising after the second day as the sandwiches was always the same, however, the packet drinks was of different flavours. The good thing is the breakfast is delivered to your doorstep, so you can have a lie in too!
The other snag was the lady boss tried to chuck us out when she had a big group checking in one night. We had just returned from a day%26#39;s outing one night and she was on duty and when we approached the counter to pick up our room key, she asked us to check out in the morning because she needed the room. We protested and told her that we had already pre-booked the quad room for 4 nights, so how could she just ask us to move out just because a big group was checking in? In the end she just ignored us, so we picked up our room key and in the morning nothing further was said.
Another snag is early in the morning (around 8am) you can hear knocking and drilling going on. It went on over the weekends too!
After a tiring day of travelling we were not very happy to be woken up with all the noise especially so early in the morning and also during the weekends too! By then we were really tempted to check out and check in to TS Hotel just around the corner.
You have been warned.
Neijiang Hotel
Glad to hear U enjoyed Taipei n were back, Hellola! :)
We remember U, n U know next thing we hope to know is: Did U get all the high-tech whiz-a-bang gadgets U listed for yr boys haha?
Anyway, it was a SeRiOuS thing Neijiang did to even attempt to try boot U out, as U described! Sigh! Glad U stood yr ground n stayed put! :)
Hi TaipeiAlive
Glad to hear from you and so quick too :)
Although our trip is now over, I still try to keep up with other peoples views and queries on the forum. I have especially enjoyed your trip report and photos.
FYI, we bought most of our shopping in HK, after much research we found it was still much cheaper in HK. In the end the eldest settled for an Ipod video, the second a PSP and the youngest a DS lite. So you can guess I had a very happy bunch of fellas. However my husband missed out on his mobile phone because we always put the kids needs in front of ours, hehehehe,,,,
Thanks for saying hello.
Hi, Hellola,
Thanks for ur info re Neijiang Hotel. I was intending to call the Hotel this afternoon and glad i m the at the forum this morning.
It%26#39;s wrong for the Hotel to ask u to check out becos a bigger biz is on the way!
Is there renovation and construction going on in the Neijiang Hotel?
Is TS able to accomodate ur family comfortably?
I m going with a family of 4; now in dilemna on which hotel to book.
Hi Hellola
Glad U manage to reward Ur 3 boys ^__^.....The other ';boy'; tell him, he can take rain check for the next trip, ehehehehe.
I am surprise that a Hotel would want to chase their guest out bcos they have a big group checking in. I will keep ur comment in mind, for the next time I am dropping by Taipei, just like I avoid hotel who are nosey about others ^__^.
Cheers
Hellola, did you choose to pay the hotel daily? If so, that%26#39;s a risk you have taken.
Dan.
Gladder to hear from U, Hellola! :)
Glad to share our little Taipei adventures in Tales %26amp; Photo Albums with U too! Thks. :)
I too, researched abt buying some electronics stuff in Taiwan. Until the Experts or whoever could clarify otherwise, I do think it%26#39;s cheaper buying in S%26#39;pore(or HK for that matter) hehe.. :)
Hving said that, should I wish to benefit from Taiwanese innovative electronics products(like lcd monitors, computer accessories etc), then I suppose buying Taiwanese products locally in Taiwan would be naturally more convenient(after sales support etc) %26amp; likely more economical too. Correct me if I%26#39;m not too rite here. :)
What did U buy for YoURSeLF, dear mum? :)
Glad to hear from all you folks on this forum. Apologises for checking in so late - had to make sure all my chores were done before I could log on :)
Dan, the first night when we arrived, the guy who checked us in asked for my hubby%26#39;s credit card, after processing the card he handed back to us and told us he will charge the card daily. We took it as their normal procedure and was happy to note that it was rather quick and no-fuss at all. He even asked if we wanted a rollaway bed but we decline, instead asked for extra bath towels which he was nice enough to obliged. However, the next evening when the lady boss was on duty, she told us that we were supposed to be charged TWD 50 for each extra towels, she there and then scolded the poor guy for giving us extra towels without charging :(
We stayed in the newer block of Neijiang and I think they are still in the process of renovating extra rooms, hence the early morning knocking and drilling.
To be honest we were satisfied with the location of the hotel as it was very close to Ximen station and all the action in the area. Not to mention the convenience of having a laundry mart just across the road. We would start the washing machines and take a stroll around Ximending for an hour and then go back to transfer the clothes to the driers, go back to our hotel for a cup of tea before going down again to fetch our clean laundry :) The laundry mart is open 24 hours so you can do your washing at your own sweet time.
Apparently, TS Hotel is just around the corner from the laundry mart so it would be very convenient to stay there too!
Sorry for going on about dirty laundry, hope it help others like myself that like to travel light to save luggage space for all our shoppings. hehehe....
Hi Taipeialive
My husband and I bought loads from Tianmu%26#39;s factory outlet. As Nuttyazn advised Ralp Lauren and other brands are sold really cheap in these outlets. You really need to shift through the piles and hope you find some bargains. The first outlet we went accepted credit cards, however, the second outlet which is futher down the road only accepts cash. Luckily, we had enough cash to pay for our goods, otherwise it would mean leaving empty handed.
We also took the boys to PS Bu Bu, unfortunately, the menu showed that for a soft drink would set us back TWD 120, so we could only window shop there hehehhee...
As for buying electronic goods in Taiwan, yes its true certain products manufactured in Taiwan would be slightly cheaper. Hence, my hubby was hunting around for a mobile phone, however, the model he was interested in unfortunately only comes with chinese version windows. Also, it would be advisable to buy products with international warranty.
Take care for now,
Hellola
Thanks for taking the time to come back and share with us the helpful and important details of your stay in Taipei, Hellola. Looks like Neijiang%26#39;s service could use a bit of polishing........and the bad vibes created by management were no help at all. Hope they didn%26#39;t put a damper on your family%26#39;s visit to Taipei.
