Queries on Travelling in Taichung and to/from Chingjing

Hi

I be spending two days in Taichung, of which one day wil be spent in Chingjing but I will travel back to Taichung for overnight.

I will be staying at 逢甲7號 (台中市西屯區上石南10巷). Could anyone please help advise how do I travel to the places below and the order to follow if my departure and ending point is 逢甲7號?

Day 1

1) 台中乐成宫

2) 万益千层豆干

3) 精明一街

4) 春水堂

5) 一中街商圈 or 天津路商圈 --%26gt; Which would you recommend for shopping?

6) 逢甲商圈

7) 天外天麻辣火锅 (if time permits)

8) Jhonghua NM (if time permits)

Day 2

逢甲7號 %26gt; Puli

Found in this forum that there%26#39;s a bus departing from Fengjia to Puli.

Does anyone know how long does the journey from Fengjia to Puli take? I would like to catch the 8.35am bus @ Puli departing for Chingjing if possible. Also, can anyone advise where exactly is the Fengjia bus stop?

From Puli %26gt; Fengjia

Is there any direct bus?

From Fengjia to Taichung HSR

Is there any direct bus as well?

Thanksss once again!

More information can be found in Taichung Traveling Net: travel.tccg.gov.tw/english/08/index.asp

From Puli %26gt; Fengjia Night Market

Chuan Hang (全航客運) bus journey from Fengjia to Puli is expected to take about 2 hrs. The bus terminal is at Fengjia University, along Fu Xing Rd (福星路), just a short walk from Fengjia Night Market.

Chuan Hang Bus schedule: http://www.chbus.com.tw/ticket_time_1a.htm

Bus frequency: Every 15 mins. 24hrs bus operation. You can board the same bus for your return trip from Puli to Fengjia.

From Fengjia Night Market %26gt; Taichung HSR Station

Board Renyou bus (仁友客運) 125 from Fengjia Night Market to Taichung HSR Station. Bus journey is expected to take about 45~50 mins as bus goes to Taichung Railway Station before proceeding to Taichung HSR Station.

Thanks for your advice! =)

Another question, for travelling on Taichung bus, do they use some stored valued card similar to Taipei%26#39;s Easycard?

Similarly for Kaohsiung, if I buy a 暢遊卡 that can be used on ferry/train/bus, can I get a refund/deposit when I travel back to Taipei?

Thanks once again!

I hope MissyPok dont me me hijacking your thread, but my queries pretty much falls in this subject header as well.

I%26#39;m thinking of the following itinerary:

Taipei-Chingjing (stay over one night)

Chingjing-Taichung

Taichung-Taipei (night coach)

Can someone advise if this is doable?

I%26#39;ve yet to book or plan anything for my trip 3 weeks later but im a rather seasoned Taiwan travellor. Will appreciate if there are any recommendations on accomodation and what to do in Chingjing.

Last trip I stopover at Taichung Station as well and saw this building called Taichung Shopping Mall (or something like that). Didn%26#39;t notice this before.. Is it new? Is it recommended for budget shopping?

I tried twice to drop by Ziyou Road Sec 2 for the famous Tai Yang Bing, but they are usually closed by evening. Any idea what time will be a safer bet to catch a sample from the traditional old store?

Hi 500rocks,

Your itinerary is doable. If you can go stay overnight at Taichung instead of Taipei would be better, in my opinion. Travel time from Taichung to Chingjing is about 2 hours whereas from Taipei is about 4 hours.

I was actally intending to stay at Chingjing. Is it advisable? As in morning depart from Taipei to Chingjing. Reach Chingjing afternoon, check-in minsu, then yet to find out what activities to do!

Next day afternoon depart from Chingjing to Taichung. Can I take the above advised 全航客運 in this case? Shopping in Taichung City, ending with Fengjia Night Market. Late night, take coach back to Taipei.

Hi Missypok,

Taichung city has its own Taichung Easycard (臺中e卡通)

Taichung Easycard: http://www.tcbus.com.tw/service/top.html

Kaohsiung city has its own Kaohsiung I-pass (一卡通)

Kaohsiung I-pass: www.krtco.com.tw/en/service/service-2.aspx

Refund of the city’s stored value card should be made at any train station in that city before travelling back to Taipei city.

Hi TaiwanDIY,

Thanks for your reply! Just another clarification, can I do my refund of the Easycard @ Taichung HSR? Cos most probably I will be travelling straight from Fengjia to take the HSR.

Public buses in Taichung city accept fare payment by Taichung Easycard (臺中e卡通) or coins/cash. I understand that with the Taichung Easycard, NT$15 is deducted for bus journey up to 8 km. If pay by coins/cash, it’s NT$20. For longer trips, if the bus fare exceeds NT$40, only NT$40 is deducted. If pay by coins/cash, you have to pay the actual fare.

Taichung Easycard can be purchased at the various bus companies’ station ticket windows and some convenience stores. Cost per card (adult) is NT$300 (NT$200 stored value and NT$100 deposit).

Check out this link for more information on Taichung Easycard: http://www.fybus.com.tw/ic.htm

Hi TaiwanDIY

Thanks for the detailed information!=)
