Hi
I%26#39;m taring my hair out (haven%26#39;t got that much) trying to find out more about this tourist train.
All the websites about it are in Chinese and I don%26#39;t do Chinese very well, in fact not at all.
Can someone shed any light on it. Evidently it is run by EZTravel. Their %26#39;English%26#39; web site is a joke and doesn%26#39;t help you very much. Can%26#39;t help wondering how much business they%26#39;re losing by not paying a professional web design company to publicize their special train in English.

Formosa Star Luxury Round the Island train
Are you referring to the Formosa Express around the island train? EZtravel%26#39;s business is probably more towards the local customers and the English website is not as developed. We had the EZtravel package and took the Formosa Express from Taipei to Hualien. The train and the hostess look exactly the same as the ones in the pictures. As far as I know, the train starts from Taipei, one route (#2080)goes to eastern side of Taiwan and the other route (#2079)goes to western side of Taiwan, both routes will stop at several cities along the way and return to Taipei the same evening. I think EZtravel attachs their trains to the TRA KuanKung series.
If you are interested in taking this train, I suggested you purchase the tickets at EZtravel agent counter in TRA Taipei Main Station or other agent branches in Taipei as well cities outside Taipei.
Formosa Star Luxury Round the Island train
Hi
Thanks for that info.
Can you do the whole trip in one day? And how much does it cost? do they do a two day round trip with a one night hotel package?
Our time on the Island is limited, to 2 %26amp; 1/2 days and two nights, the first day we only arrive at 11:00 the last day we leave at 22:00, any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Yes, in one day which means you don%26#39;t get out the train at all. They have packages from 1 day to more than 5 days tours to anywhere in Taiwan. The problem is the website is in Chinese. Their tour guide does not speak much English as well.
In my opinion, spend 2 1/2 days in Taipei is better option unless you have been to Taipei before.

Hi there,
I%26#39;m looking at the same website too. Am thinking of taking the train from Taipei to Hualian and visit the Takoro national park, it%26#39;s a real beauty. I can read Chinese if you want me to translate. Where do you want to visit in Taiwan?

Oh, just seen the date, it was Jan 08, you must have been, did you enjoy that? Thought it was posted Jan 09.

The package comes with service of the dining car; if you don%26#39;t need that, or the service of the pretty attendents, the tix is bookable on the website of the Taipei Rail at a much cheaper price(the last cabin is not leased to travel agents n is run by TaipeiRail themselves, hence much cheaper). However, if you only have one day, I would do the High speed rail instead then, perhaps transfer to the tourist train in Kaoshiung, alight in Hualien, and transfer to Taoroko rail. This way, it saves time plus you get to see spend a little time in the city as well.
